I’ve been overwhelmed with new music lately. Especially yesterday. New singles, new albums, new preorders! The spring/summer must have been extremely inspiring because all the great artists are emerging from their studios with bangers. Yes, bangers. Continue reading
Minneapolis’ finest Sims released a new single yesterday, featuring Astronautalis and produced by Cecil Otter. What that basically means is a trio of incredibly talented people have just made my day. You can see Sims and Astro together in Minneapolis next month if you don’t come to Sioux Falls for the Later Babes show. Gotta love your life when some of the hardest choices you have to make are which great show to attend!
Check it out.
In the crazy madness that is my job during the month of March, I have not been able to make many updates. Don’t you worry, I’m back, and I’m ready to catch you all up. Check out these new videos, songs, and albums released recently. I also highly encourage your feedback here or on Twitter if you want to tell me what you’ve been listening to. If I like it, I just might post it. Continue reading
My great friends in Phantom Balance are giving me the pleasure of bringing you a brand new, never-before-heard song off their upcoming album, Loser.
“Gone” features a characteristic PB melodic hook with shared verses between the two brothers. The song represents feelings towards losing something of importance, in a way serving as an anthem for the nostalgic.
Happy Tuesday lovely readers. It’s been a while since I posted some of my new ‘jams’ but here’s me making up for it.
Sioux Falls’ own Phantom Balance dropped their new video for “Coliseum” (posted below) today. It’s a gritty song with a matching dark video but I love that it highlights the natural chemistry between the two brothers. I have extremely high hopes for these guys in the local scene and I think that will be more evident when Loser, their new album, comes on out March 1.
How can you not love the guy? He hit his prime in rock and roll during an era where musicians were legends and could get away with damn near anything. And while the industry loses so much talent to drug overdosing and depression, this guy is not only alive, but celebrating his 66th birthday by releasing his first album in 10 fricking years. (Plus he was in the Labyrinth and god dammit I love that movie).
Fridays can really drag, huh? If you need something new to check out while pretending to finish up that spreadsheet or even just want something new to discover over the weekend, I have you covered.
Here are a few new things I’ve been listening to over the week.
